This is the matching tender to the model of a red 2-8-2 Mikado-type steam locomotive. These engines, also known as Mikes, were widely used in the U.S. as freight locomotives.  This is the fourteenth in the Lionel Trains locomotive series. Like earlier Hallmark ornaments, this engine approximates N-scale size (about 1:160 scale), and is a very accurate model. Earlier in the series, the engines usually had a prototypically correct roadname; for this version, a generic Holiday Red style is represented, and on this tender, there is a “Holiday Railroad” logo.

The ornament is about 2 3/4 inches long. The box description reads: “Bearing a cheerful Holiday Railroad logo, its job is to carry the coal and water for making steam.”

This ornament is item #QXI1102 and retailed for $14.50 in the U.S.
