Hallmark Keepsake: 1963 Ford Thunderbird

Overall Impression: Authentic model of the 1963 T-bird

  • Nice: Tan color, great detail.
  • Naughty: Nothing.

This handcrafted and metal Hallmark Keepsake ornament, dated for 2009, is a model of the 1963 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster. The model was crafted by longtime Hallmark artist Don Palmiter. This is the nineteenth in the Classic American Cars series. As on all such finely detailed Hallmark models, the wheels turn, and the license plates represent both the year of the vehicle (1963) on the front, and the year of the ornament (2009) on the rear. True to the tradition of these vehicle ornaments, there is a wrapped package on the passenger seat  – green paper with red ribbon. This model is officially licensed by Ford.

The ornament is about 4 inches long. The legend on the box reads:

“With special fender badges, real wire wheels, and a fiberglass tonneau cover that effectively converted the car into a two-seater, the limited production Thunderbird Sports Roadster commanded admiration and respect on America’s roadways in 1963. This third-generation convertible’s sleek styling, graceful lines, and jet-inspired fins and taillights gave it the unmistakable look and feel of a rocket ship. Launching it from 0-60 in just 11 seconds, a big 390-cubic-inch engine provided this futuristic “Bullet Bird” with a timeless combination of style, sophistication, and power that continues to impress car enthusiasts today.”

This ornament is item #QX8305 and retailed for $15.00 in the U.S.
